About The Artist
Hi and welcome to my shop “SirRah’s (creatively, Harris spelled backwards). My name is Debbie Harris and I run a small home-based business. I have been happily married for 44 years, have two wonderful sons, a daughter-in-law that is my daughter, and three beautiful grandkids. Everything listed handmade is made by me personally and is FINISHED and READY TO SHIP unless otherwise stated. I have a wealth of experience and was taught by the best, my grandmother. I pride myself in making high-quality items and customer satisfaction is very important to me.
I have always loved crafting and being creative. I learned to sew and crochet at about the age of 12. I sewed on an antique Singer Featherweight sewing machine making my own clothes and crazy quilts tied together with yarn. For my high school graduation, my parents got me a larger antique Singer sewing machine in a sewing cabinet which I still have and use at times. On that sewing machine, I made my own wedding dress as well as my daughter-in-law’s. I have two grown sons that I made clothes on it when they were little and I also made each one a quilt out of their denim pants that I saved since they were babies. The back of the quilts were made out of their receiving blankets.
I believe in traditions and have taught my granddaughter how to sew on the same Singer Featherweight sewing machine that I learned on and also taught her to crochet like my grandmother taught me.
When I am not sewing, you can catch me with a crochet hook in my hand. My grandmother taught me to crochet granny squares. Years later, a good friend taught me how to read patterns and to crochet using thread. I made two large tablecloths that were very challenging but rewarding that I have passed down as an heirloom. I have made afghans, baby blankets, dolls, hats, scarves, to name a few. Everything I stitch comes from the heart!
